SPENCER HARRISON

BOARD DIRECTOR

Spencer Harrison is a visual artist whose work distils colour, form and space into ordered abstract structures that reflect on our lived urban experience. His visual language draws on the world around us, referencing design, architecture, science and the built environment. Within his works, Harrison explores tensions between minimalism and maximalism, order and chaos, contemplating the role these forces play in the modern world. Employing a range of methodologies of making across painting, digital video, sculpture and installation, the works he creates questions the nature of abstraction and its relationship to contemporary life.

Throughout the past 7 years, Harrison has exhibited regularly in solo and group exhibition with his most recent exhibition 'Tape Measures' presenting a series of 52 drawings reflecting on social distancing during the pandemic. Alongside his exhibitions he also undertakes public artworks and commissions working with clients such as Miami Horror, David Jones, Victorian Metro Tunnel and the City of Melbourne.

Harrison recently graduated from the Victorian Collage of Arts, Melbourne with a Masters of Contemporary Art (First Class Honours) and was recipient of an award from the NGV women's association for his graduate showcase.
